Refilling and storing bioethanol correctly: 7 tips
Share
Bioethanol is the fuel that brings your fireplace to life. It is highly flammable – but with a few basic rules, handling it remains simple and safe.
1. Only refill a cold burner
Never pour fuel into a burning or still hot burner. Extinguish the flame using the intended method and wait until the burner has cooled down completely – the instructions for your model state the waiting time.
2. Use a funnel and do not overfill
A safety funnel helps you avoid spills. Observe the burner's maximum filling quantity and wipe up any spilled fuel completely before lighting.
3. Light from a distance
A long lighter keeps your hand at a distance from the flame when lighting.
4. How long does one filling last?
That depends on the burner and the flame height. For many of our models, the suppliers state around 2–4 hours per litre. You will find the burner capacity in the product details of each fireplace.
5. Neutral or scented?
In addition to neutral bioethanol in 1 L and 5 L, we offer scented variants. Always use a fuel that is approved for your appliance.
6. Store it correctly
- Keep it in the tightly closed original container.
- Store it in a cool, well-ventilated place away from ignition sources – not next to the fireplace.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Follow the information on the label and the safety data sheet.
7. Ventilate and never leave it unattended
Ensure the fresh-air supply specified in the instructions and never leave the flame unattended. Do not extinguish the flame with water.
